0 FLSA Exempt Scope of Job Oversees the Office of Faculty Affairs which facilitates the success of the School of Medicine’s (SOM) faculty by providing support services and professional development opportunities.
Description of Duties Oversees the daily management of the Office of Faculty Affairs, SOM.
Works with University and School of Medicine Leadership in meeting the rules and requirements as outlined by the UT System Board of Regents; UTRGV Handbook of Policies, and the UTRGV School of Medicine.
Works with UTRGV Human Resources and SOM Human Resources as appropriate.
Develops and monitors the budget and resources for the Office of Faculty Affairs, SOM.
Assists faculty in navigating the academic environment, supporting professional achievement, and promoting academic excellence.
Develops and distributes: Faculty Policies, Faculty Handbook and related materials.
Promotion and Tenure –Provides administrative support to the Promotion, Tenure and Appointment Committee.
Coordinates procedural components of the collection, appropriate distribution, storage of dossier materials for faculty promotion and tenure.
Functions as Faculty Ombuds for the SOM and informs Faculty on Grievance Proceedings and similar policies.
Serves as point person for issues related to SOM faculty wellness and resilience policy.
Oversees the maintenance of faculty files.
Also ensures that faculty information is available for accreditation or similar uses.
Coordinates with SOM Marketing and Communications maintains a quality Faculty Affairs web site with useful information and resources.
Works collaboratively with faculty assembly leadership with annual faculty recognition/awards program.
Works with Integrated Service Units to: Comply with university and SOM requirements including: Conflict-of-interest policies Faculty training and CME Support volunteer/community faculty Oversees assigned staff and provides guidance and leadership.
Monitors the core functions of Faculty Development and CME which includes Teaching, Research and Clinical Skills Development Programs.
Performs other duties as needed.
Supervision Received General supervision from the Dean, of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice President, UT Health RGV.
Supervision Given Specific supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education Terminal degree in a related field from an accredited University.
Preferred Education N/A Licenses/Certifications N/A Required Experience Six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a medical school setting.
Preferred Experience N/A Equipment Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties.
Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.
