Job Description Position Title: Non-Certified Librarian Position Type: Salaried ($21,875 annual) / Non-Exempt Position Hours: FT / 40 Hours Length of Term/Employment: At-will - 190 work days Reports to: Campus Principal Position Mission: The full utilization of library services, materials and resources offered to Elementary Students QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent with education/experience.
Two (2) years of post secondary education or training related to library media or equivalent work experience related to job responsibilities or a combination thereof.
Ability to perform clerical tasks, with limited supervision and assume clerical responsibility for a major segment of the library’s operations Ability to work well with others.
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Ability to communicate and follow instructions.
Experience preferred in using photocopiers and other office equipment, including microcomputers and software programs utilized by the school libraries.
Willingness to keep abreast of changing technologies and to assume new responsibilities of new services and equipment.
Must exhibit the proper attitudes and personal qualities necessary to produce high quality library services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist students and staff in the circulation of library materials.
Encourage use of library to students.
Responsible for shelving, straightening and shelf reading of library materials.
Pull library materials which need to be mended, discarded and/or replaced.
Process new library materials received for circulation.
Process periodicals received for circulation.
Sort returned materials by type, location, or unit of library to which assigned.
Checks to see if returned materials are overdue.
Checks to see if returned materials are on hold/ Examines returned materials for obvious damage.
Collects and records fines.
Records receipt of payments for lost or damaged materials.
Answers borrower’s questions concerning circulation rules.
Assists in training of volunteers and new library assistants in circulation procedures.
Maintains professional appearance and behaves in a manner appropriate to a public setting.
Performs reliably, dependably with a good record of attendance, punctuality, flexibility and time management.
Develops work-related goals and objectives.
Develops job-related abilities, skills and knowledge.
Attends library-related meetings, workshops and in-service programs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the School Principal.
Completes inventory of materials at the end of the school year.
Assists teachers with discipline management.
Provide reading activities and/or events for students.
Perform other assigned duties.
