82 annual / Non-Exempt Position Hours: Full-time; Monday-Friday Length of Term/Employment: 190 work days / At-will Reports to: Cafeteria Manager and Campus Principal Position Mission: The Food Service Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager in duties and tasks.
Leads cafeteria in absence of cafeteria manager and routinely assists in management tasks.
The Food Service Assistant Manager assists in preparing inventory, food orders, guiding and participating in production, cleaning and service and in cash register procedures providing nutritional meals for students.
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic food quantity food preparation, food service and sanitation principles as it applies to school food service.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions; read and write English; perform assigned tasks without close supervision.
One year of paid or unpaid experience in a kitchen, preferably in a school district.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Possess valid Texas Driver’s license.
Serve-Safe Certificate required.
Job Duties: Acts as a lead in coordinating and monitoring duties of Food Service Workers.
Assisting in inventory, food orders, guiding staff in production, cash register process and deposit preparation and other operations within the cafeteria.
Assists in supervision of staff and leads staff in absence of cafeteria manager.
May lead or assist the Food Service Manager, with supervision procedures for the daily collection of money and completion of required reports.
Assist the Food Service Manager in assigning cooking, cleaning, serving and any other cafeteria duties.
May be required to travel to campuses in absence of Food Service Manager.
Assist in requisitions food and supplies.
Assures overall quality and quantity of food served.
Operates and maintains equipment in kitchen.
Directs and assists in the cleaning of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, kitchen equipment and food service areas.
As directed by Manager, complete daily production records for campus.
Ensures general sanitation and safety procedures are followed.
Assures that kitchen and storage area are clean and organized.
Handle and dispose of leftovers, using proper sanitation.
Assist with Till Reports, meal accounts, daily deposits.
Assist Manager with student accounts.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule (hours and/or days).
Performs other duties as required.
Physical Requirements: Employees in this position must have the ability to: Physical agility to frequently stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, lift and move objects up to 50 lbs shoulder height and occasionally lift in excess of 50 lbs with assistance.
Demonstrate normal depth perception.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Verbal communication including the ability to hear at normal room levels.
Ability to use telephones and office equipment.
