Summary:
The Welding Instructor will be responsible for the delivery of NCCER Welding – Level 1
certification training to trainees attending the YB NCCER Weld Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Implement and execute curriculum plans, exercises, and assessments.
• Organize and maintain all necessary supplies and equipment for classroom and/or
practical instruction.
• Conduct classroom training sessions and/or in-lab practical instruction using modern
instructional techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of daily attendance and exam scores.
• Monitor and evaluate class progress, and consistently identify and assess common
core strengths and weaknesses of Trainees.
• Safeguard and manage trainee records ensuring confidentiality.
• Input trainee information into the NCCER Registry; updating records as needed.
• Provide feedback to YouthBuild Director of each Trainee progress.
• Collaborate with the Director to suggest program adjustments to match Client,
Industry, and trainee requirements.
• Attend/participate in essential meetings as necessary.
• Assist with coordinating training activities with Clients.
• Assist Director with planning and implementation of a fully functional welding lab.
• Foster open communication and teamwork among student groups in conjunction with
the Construction Trainer.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• A minimum high school diploma or GED certificate and 2 years additional college
training in the appropriate area of specialization, or 3 years work experience in
appropriate area of specialization.
• The knowledge and ability to instruct in the required pre-employment training skills.
• Ability to work in a constant state of awareness.
• Skill in comprehending technical literature and processes.
Knowledge of pre-
employment training program skill requirements.
Knowledge of industrial training
and retraining procedures.
• Ability to comply with all pertinent safety, environmental and other local, state and
federal laws and regulations.
• Ability to effectively present technical information to groups in a classroom or lab
environment.
• Ability to instruct the NCCER Welding Level 1 curriculum, which consists of 300 hours
of classroom and hands-on performance training.
The curriculum covers topics such
as Oxyfuel Cutting, Welding Symbols, and Stainless-Steel Groove Welds.
• NCCER’s curriculum also correlates to the American Welding Society SENSE (Schools
Excelling through national Skills Education) standards and guidelines for Entry
Welder.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary – $40,000.
00 - $42,000.
00 yearly salary (DOE)
• Bonus – Based on production goals met
